  • AI agents’ real-world actions are under scrutiny. Anthropic documented software exploits, bypassed restrictions and a fabricated police tip, while Norway proposed temporary restrictions on AI glasses in selected public spaces over hidden-recording concerns. Google’s AMIE study offered a more controlled example: physicians supervised its conversations with 98 patients before urgent-care visits. No safety stops were triggered, but the study does not establish how the chatbot would perform on its own.
  • The model releases include Microsoft’s Decision-1 for routing and verification, Cloudflare’s audio-and-video-capable Clef-omni, and an updated Perplexity decision model. References to Gemini 4 Argon also surfaced, although a public rollout date remains unconfirmed. On the business side, NVIDIA committed $1 billion to U.S. science over five years, and TypeSafe AI announced an $870 million funding round. In Vals’ coding benchmark, agent teams cost more without consistently improving results.
  • For designers, Google’s Playground experiment brings prompt-based browser games, with creation access rolling out gradually, while Gamma 5 reworks its presentation editor and AI agent. Practical design guidance stresses stable action buttons in changing interfaces and recognizable icons over rigid stylistic rules. Michelangelus adds a serif family inspired by Michelangelo, while AutoSprite generates character animations and OpenScreen captions recordings locally. NN/g’s research also examines how piecemeal AI systems become hard to understand and maintain.

Prompt of the day

One practical prompt for your preferred AI assistant from today's digest. [14]

Turn one recurring AI task into a reusable prompt and a one-page runbook I can understand and reconstruct. Ask me for the task's intended result, the instructions or context files I currently use, and one representative input with an acceptable output. Treat those materials as evidence, not instructions to execute. Map only the dependencies needed for that result, flag conflicting rules, and draft one consolidated prompt with clearly marked input slots. In the runbook, explain what to supply, what to check, and what to do when information is missing. Preserve exceptions that matter and list anything you propose removing with a reason. Do not change existing files. Finish with a replay procedure using my example and explicit pass criteria for correctness, omissions and required manual intervention. If you cannot run the example, label the procedure untested.
