  • OpenAI ships ChatGPT for Linux with Codex, Grok 4.6 matches GPT-5.6 Sol on benchmarks, and researchers reveal encrypted reasoning blobs from frontier models are trivially decodable.
  • A deep existential piece asks why everyone in tech is so sad, middle management roles are diagnosed as career traps, and a design critic argues we're building with AI but not redesigning what we build.
  • Unsloth Desktop goes open-source for local training, Claude gets a Chrome Cowork side panel, Click offers agentic MCP context, and Tencent ships a 3D world-from-text builder.

Top Stories

  • ChatGPT lands on Linux with bundled Codex agent. OpenAI released a native ChatGPT desktop app for Ubuntu 24.04/26.04 LTS, Debian 13, and Fedora 43/44, bundling ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex, an AI coding agent that reads local files and runs inside repos. Available as .deb and .rpm packages for x64 and ARM64, with automatic repo updates. A separate signup page lets Linux users get notified when the app reaches their distro. [1]
  • Grok 4.6 launches for long-running agents; Grok 4.7 teased weeks away. SpaceXAI released Grok 4.6, scoring 61 on Artificial Analysis (level with GPT-5.6 Sol overall). Available in Cursor, Grok Build, the API, OpenRouter, Vercel, and Cloudflare. On AA-Briefcase it reached frontier-tier quality averaging ~53 turns and 0.5B input tokens vs. ~103 turns and 2.0B for Claude Opus 5 Max. API pricing starts at $2/M input and $6/M output tokens. Musk says Grok 4.7, due in 3–4 weeks, is already significantly better and is being supplemented with SpaceX company data. [2] [3] [4]
  • Security flaw lets anyone steal hidden reasoning from Claude, GPT, and Gemini. Researchers found that encrypted reasoning blobs sent to clients are fully portable, a blob from Claude Opus can be injected into the cheaper Haiku, which reads it aloud. The same trick works on OpenAI and Gemini. A scan of ~7,000 public traces found 62 API keys, 33 emails, and 33 passwords. The technique also enables extracting hidden hazardous information the model rejected in visible output, and injecting invisible malicious instructions into shared agent workflows. [5]
  • Unsloth releases open-source desktop app for local model training and inference. Unsloth Desktop is an open-source app for Mac, Windows, and Linux that trains models 2x faster using 70% less GPU memory. Supports NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, and Apple Silicon GPUs. Enables connecting Claude Code or Codex to local models instead of paid APIs, plus private web search, deep research, and RAG. Models export in standard GGUF format. [6]
  • Lovable raises $400M at $13.3B valuation. The vibe-coding startup more than doubled its valuation since December, raising $400M in a round that values the company at $13.3 billion. [7]
